My recipe for a relaxing morning.. genius!

Last week I started feeling really run down and out of energy. It’s really hitting that point in the semester. Class projects are piling up, clubs are getting more involved, friends want to hangout, and work is getting hectic.

Saturday morning I took some time to treat myself to a relaxing morning, before another busy day. Taking the time to relax every once in a while is really important for your mental and physical health. I’ve never been a morning person.. but if all my mornings were like this I might just become one!

Here’s my recipe for a relaxing morning:

Go Outdoors

It’s a proven fact that going outside can brighten your mood. Take a moment to step outdoors and get a breath of fresh air. Consider going for a walk, sit on a bench, and overall take in the scenery around you. The weather is starting to warm up again.. take advantage of it! Relax and reflect.


LiptonMy morning hasn’t started until I have my cup of tea in my hand. Brewing some tea in the morning is such a part of my routine that preparing the tea relaxes me just as much as drinking it does!


Right now my favorite is the new Lipton Black Tea: Enticing Chai. Super easy to make, then I add a small splash of creamer, and I’m ready for my day. I’ve always been a chai tea lover, but the Lipton Enticing Chai Tea is the perfect black tea to awaken my senses in the morning!




If the weather is a little warmer I either put some ice cubes into this to make it into an iced chai tea latte or I change it up with my favorite flavored Lipton Green Tea: Orange Passionfruit Jasmine or the Herbal Berry Hibiscus. These fruity flavors are a great uplifting and refreshing treat in the warmer weather.

While I absolutely love my alone time, sometimes its totally necessary to dedicate some time to your friends. It’s too easy to get caught up in your work, classes, and personal life and lose track of those who matter to you. Grab some brunch together, go for a walk, or even just sit together and study.. sometimes just spending time together can boost your mood and make even monotonous chores like laundry or grocery shopping that much better.

Last Saturday my Her Campus chapter decided to put on a morning yoga class in the park in the center of our campus. Of course I had to be there, but it was so early in the morning (10am.. I know.. I know I’m really not a morning person!) I begrudgingly signed up to attend. It ended up being a blessing in disguise.

Spending the morning in the park, with some of my favorite people, listening to relaxing music and doing yoga together was exactly what I needed.

Incorporating these 4 things into my morning made me so relaxed that I had enough energy to go an entire day at a theme park and finish work at night.. after only getting 4 hours of sleep the night before. I’m already planning my next morning yoga session with my chapter, and I’m drinking my Lipton chai tea latte right now as I type this!
