What it's like being a model at College Fashion Week!

Last weekend I had the amazing opportunity to be a model in College Fashion Week LA. This event was really great to be a part of with about 500 attendees all watching real college women of different shapes and sizes walk the runway. With all the heat that the fashion industry has (rightfully) been under lately for the body types of their models, it was refreshing to see real college women represented in this show. In addition to the models, another great part about the show was that all the shows featured designs from up and coming designers in the industry.

College Fashion Week was put on by Her Campus Media and their theme of being all about empowering college women was definitely a main focus in this event.

We started the day off with some fittings in the clothes, then by going to DryBar to get our hair done, and when we got back to the studio our makeup and eyebrows done as well.

Since the night consisted of 4 mini fashion shows, there were a ton of sponsors throughout the event that the attendees could mingle with in between the shows.

The 4 shows were:
1. Study Chic.
2. Rush.
3. Festival.
4. Girl’s Night out

All of the shows featured talent from up-and-coming female fashion entrepreneurs and designers as well as shoes from Vince Camuto and bags from Rebecca Minkoff. I have to say my favorite look was either Rush or Girl’s Night out! My Girl’s Night Out look is featured in the image above, but here’s a glimpse of what I wore for the Rush look.

It was so fun walking down the runway and hearing so many girls who are involved in Her Campus cheering us on.

At the end of the night all the VIP attendees and models received special goody bags, and 400 of the attendees did as well. Take a look inside my bag! Here’s what I got: a FitBit Flex 2 (which I am already loving!), a Juicy Couture perfume from Perfumania, a DryBar blowout coupon, Essie nail polish, a Bertha Watch, and a Rebecca Minkoff clutch.

Have you ever gone out of your comfort zone and done something like model in a fashion show?
