About 2 years ago I created and shared my secret to never missing an assignment deadline in college – my assignment calendar. This simple calendar was a hit with my readers and I received wonderful feedback and requests to continue to produce these calendars!
I, unfortunately, dropped the ball last semester and did not share an assignment calendar with you all. However, I’ve continued to receive requests for an updated calendar for the Spring 2018 semester, and I am here to deliver.
In addition to the updated calendar, I also received a few requests for a recorded quick tutorial on how to use the calendar, which I have included below.
I believe that there’s an art in preparing for a new semester – how you prep for the start of a new semester can really make or break your organization throughout a term. When we are surrounded by our paper planners and our digital planning tools like Google Calendar, it only makes sense for us to organize our assignment due dates in the same sort of calendar-like fashion, instead of the weird list or table that our professors hand is in our syllabus.
So here it is, back by popular demand, the download for the 2018 spring semester assignment calendar!
The Calendar & How to Use It
The calendar is designed so that there is one box for every week day of the semester. I personally don’t have any classes or assignments due on the weekends, so this is only Monday – Friday. The way I like to use this is on the first day of classes, after i get my syllabuses (syllabi?) I sit down and type in all my assignments for the entire semester on the day that they are due.
I have synesthesia so color coding is my best friend. I use the same color code for my classes throughout my Google Calendars and my planners, so it only makes sense for me to extend this to my assignment schedule.
I inputted the assignments on the days which they are due so that if I wake up on Tuesday morning panicking that I didn’t do any homework last night, I can take a look at the day on my assignment calendar to see what is due that day.
After the spreadsheet is completed, I print it out and hang it right next to my desk. I also keep a copy saved on the desktop of my computer so that I can access it when I’m not at my desk.
This calendar has been so helpful in helping me keep track of all school assignments without having to reference every single syllabus each day!
Note: I apologize for the terrible quality on this video – it was my first time doing a screen record! I will be sure to update and improve this when I’m able to afford higher quality programs.
This calendar has January – June 2018 on it and is super easy to copy/paste if you need to add more months or days for you.
If you like it, let me know in the comments below how you use it!
