I decided to take a quick break from the “my desk” posts to post something a little bit new, my dorm transformation for Halloween!
All of these decorations are cheap, simple, cute, and just a tad spooky. Our dorm tends to house all of our friends on top of all my roommates and these decorations were all that we needed to put ourselves and all of our guests in the festive mood for Autumn.
We focused on four different parts of the room.
- Living Room
- Door
- The Window
- The Ceiling
The Living Room
First we went and raided the $1 and $3 section at Target. There we found these cute touches: a black glittery skull, a pumpkin welcome mat, a black cat candy basket, a painted Happy Halloween sign, and an orange and black wreath with spiders.
The Door
When we moved in our RA had put elephants on our door with each of our names next to them. For Halloween we decided it was time to take those down, so we replaced them with skulls that we put our names next to.
The Window
My roommate Emily and I made a run to Rite Aid one night and found some cheap spider webs! We each bought one bag (about $2 per bag,) and it was enough for all our decorations. We spread one bag across the window, and also put up some plastic gummy Halloween stickers on the window, along with some cute pumpkin and candy corn post it notes that we wrote “happy halloween” on and a canvas banner with white, orange, and black dots on it.
The Ceiling
Then, we took the second bag of spider webs and cut it into four pieces before spreading them out throughout the corners of our living room to give the rest of the room a small spooky effect.

Love the $1 bins at Target!
Wow, you really went all out. Love it! I did the same thing with Christmas and Valentine’s day for my dorm room 🙂
p.s. I feel like you could use some blacklights in there
